2.FRIENDSHIP

" A fiend in need is a friend indeed."

Friendship is a relation of two hearts. It can be called a sincere love between two men. Man is a social being. He does not like to live alone . He likes friendship. Friendship is formed through our selfless love for another person. Friendship is a great  gift for all of us. A friendless man's life is quite miserable. He is an object of pity for all.

True friendship is a blessing for us although it is very hard to find. Many people become our friends when we have plenty to spend. But they disappear when we are in trouble. These friends are fair weather friends. They are friends of prosperity. We should detect these friends and leave their company. They should never be trusted. A false friend is always dangerous. Sometimes they may put our life into danger. They may lead us in a  wrong path.

A true friend never leaves us in our weal and woe. He consoles us if he finds us sad. He even becomes ready to sacrifice his life to save us from trouble. He never leaves us at the time of adversity. A true friend's love never dies. A true friend is an asset for us. It is like a precious gem for us. A good friend can help us to remove our pain from our mind . It is said ," Our pain is halved and pleasure  is double when shared "  This rightly reflects the power of true friendship. A true friendship may be a good source of inspiration for us. There are many instances which can establish that true friendship is at the root of many successful journeys of human life.

Friendship is a precious gem. It helps us to lead a peaceful life with good company. A friendless man's life is quite miserable. But we should be careful in selecting our friends. A wicked and unfaithful friend may spoil our life and good  plans. Then friendship will become a big curse for our life.

INTRODUCTION : A library is a place where books are kept for reading. It can be called a store house of knowledge where books of various kinds are kept for public use. Various kinds of books like story books, novels, biographies and autobiographies of great men, books on various branches of science, arts and commerce, books on articles etc. are kept in a library. Now-a-days every school keeps a good library for the benefits of students as well as teachers. Students can borrow and read them at home. They are immensely benefited by this facility.

The Principal/Headmaster appoints a teacher-in-charge to look after the act of management of the library. This committee takes the responsibility of the management of the library for a year. Every year a new commitee is formed for this purpose.

PROCESS OF BORROWING BOOKS :-The Principal/Headmaster issues a library card to each student of the institution. The card is generally valid for one year. There is a notice board on the front wall of the library building. The day and hour of opening of the library are displayed on the notice. The rules of borrowing and returning of the books are written on the back page of the card.  Generally every class is given a particular day for borrowing books to avoid rush. Some schools issue books to students of all classes on every working days in leisure time or after school hour. Although some private institutions take a  minimum fee to buy new books every year, no fee is taken from students of government school as they get  an annual grant to buy new books.

5.THE LIFE OF A GREAT MAN

Many people have come to this world; but only a few are able to leave the sign of their presence in this world  by their great works. We call them great men. A lot of great men were born in India. Gautam Buddha, Guru Nanak, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, A P J Abdul  Kalam, Srimanta Shankardev, Swami Vivekananda,Lakshminath Bezbarua were a few among many. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was also such a great man who dedicated his life for the welfare of people and society. He was a preacher of love, non-violence and truth. He was popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi. The people of India call him Bapu, the father of the nation.

This priest of truth was born on October 2 ,1869 at Porbandar in Gujrat in India. His father Karamchand Gandhi was a dewan of the state. He led a life of principle. His mother Putlibai was a pious lady. She helped Gandhi in shaping his  character.

Gandhi was a mediocre type of student at school. He passed the matriculation examination in 1888. He studied in Samaldas college for a year after passing the matriculation. Then he went to England to study law. His journey to England for getting education fighting against the will of his consevative  mother and other members of the society reveals his strong determination.

After his return from England, Gandhi started practising law in Mumbai and later in Rajkot. But he was not successful as an advocate. Then he left for South Africa as a legal adviser of a private company. There he successfuly led a struggle against the torture made on the Indian people living there. His non-violent way of struggle succeeded to give the Indians some freedom.

Gandhi returned to India in 1915. He settled at Sabarmati. He also established an  ashram there. The successful story of his non-violent struggle in South Africa had already been spread througout India. So, many  Indians requested him to lead the Independent Movement of India. The Indian National Congress had already started a movement to drive away the British rulers from India. Gandhi took  the leadership of this movement. His weapons of fighting were nonviolence, noncoopera tion, Satygraha etc. He wanted to win over enemy by love, not by hatred. Finally India got freedom under his able leadership. His non-violent movement got better of the great powerful nation of the world, the Great Britain. India became independent on 15 August,1947.

Gandhi couldn't live long after India had gained independence. He was assassinated by one extremist, Nathuram Gadse, while he was going to attend a prayer meeting in Delhi. This unfortunate incident happened on January30,1948. The whole world got shocked at the news of the killing of great priest of truth, love and peace.

Gandhi devoted his whole life for the welfare of people. He tried his best to uplift the condition of the Harijan and downtrodden. He also  fought against untouchability.

Though Gandhi left the world for ever, he will remain immortal in the mind of the people of India. The whole world has now begun to realise his teaching of non-violence. The people of India show great respect to him on 2nd October every year observing his birthday as Gandhi Jayanti. Recently, the United Nations declared his birthday as 'The International Day of Non-Violence'.
